How to integrate Quintism in your life
Quintism is lived more than believed. Its practices, the flows, are short and voluntary, and they fit around the life you already have. You don’t need to take them all on. Begin with one.
One flow at a time
Choose one
Pick the flow that asks the least of you today. The Spaces Between asks for three breaths between one task and the next. The Morning Ritual asks for a few quiet minutes before the day begins.
Stay with it
Keep to that one flow for a few weeks. It becomes yours through repetition, not effort. When you miss a day, begin again the next; nothing is lost.
Then add another
When it feels natural, add a second, perhaps with a different rhythm: a weekly gathering, or a monthly evening under the moon. The yearly festivals and the rites of passage will come when their time does.
Heart, Mind and Hand
Most flows ask three things of you, one for each of the Three Mothers: care, curiosity and action.
When time is short
Let it be one of each. A kind or honest word, to someone or to yourself. One question you carry through the day. A stretch, a walk, an early night. These are the Daily Threads, and they fit in any day.
When something needs to change
Before you decide, ask the questions of the Three Steps of Change, in order. Does this arise from care? Has the way been made clear? Has the work been done?
Make them your own
The flows are not rules. Their times, steps and words are suggestions: change them to fit your days, your beliefs and the people you share them with. The Book of Flows says as much:
These rites need not be chained to days, nor carved in stone.
They may flow, as the Mothers do, in the rhythm of becoming.
Alone or together
Every flow can be practiced alone. Some are richer when shared: the weekly Circle, the monthly gathering under the turning moon, the seasonal festivals. A circle can be two friends at a kitchen table, or a family at dinner. What matters is that you show up for each other.
